Excellent Night's Sleep

Last night was the last night I stayed at my old place.

I went to bed at 9:40pm and had no trouble going to sleep. I got up at 5:20am without too much difficulty and don't feel at all tired at the moment (it's now gone 4pm).

Heating off

Fantastic! I worked out how to turn the heating off! Went sleep around 11:30pm last night and got up this morning at 7:04am.

Felt a little tired this morning but I think that was largely down to not having any breakfast.

That radiator is a problem

I went to bed last night at 11:25 and went to sleep around midnight. At the moment I'm staying at a friend's house while he is away and I'm finding it rather unsettling.

The worst part by far is that I can't work out how to alter his central heating settings and at 6am every day the heating comes on.

I wake up every morning with a splitting headache, feeling lethargic. I got out of bed this morning at 8am. I feel fine now.

Nothing Weekend

This weekend I managed to be busy all weekend but really have nothing to show for it. Currently moving house which takes a lot longer than you expect (even though this is the 4th time I have moved this year).

Friday night I got home from work at 7pm. I was still suffering from a cold so sat in all night. Consequently, I wasn't tired enough to go to sleep straight away and ended up watching TV til nearly 12:30am. Fell to sleep shortly afterwards and woke up around 9.

I went out on Saturday and went to bed around 1:30am. I woke up at around 10am.

Last night I really struggled to go to sleep. I went to bed at 9:30pm and lay there until around 11pm before eventually dropping off. I woke up this morning at 5:08am and got up at 6:15am. I don't feel tired today but am looking forward to a bit of routine this week!

Hot

I went out last night for a drink with a friend. I got back around 11:45pm and went straight to bed. By 12:15am I was asleep. I woke up easily at 7:45pm.

Last evening work for a whlie

Worked til late again last night. Stopped around 10:15pm and went to bed around 10:30pm. Really struggled to get to sleep and finally dropped off around 11:45pm.

I got up this morning at 8am.

Still not over this cold so I'm not feeling great - not sure whether this is down to the cold or down to the late night.

Still have cold

I'm still suffering with a cold.

I went out last night to play snooker with some friends for a bit. I got to bed at 10:55pm and went to sleep after about 15 minutes.

When I woke up this morning I felt awful and very tired, struggling to get out of bed at 6:34am.

At the moment I feel tired and blocked up.

Radiator

I'm staying at friend's house at the moment while he is away in Australia for a month. It suits me as it's two miles from work rather than 27.

Last night I worked until 10:15 and went straight to bed and pretty much straight to sleep.

I woke up at 4:57am feeling bright and awake but as my alarm was set for 7am I allowed myself to go back to sleep. In the meantime the heating must have come on and the bed has has been arranged so that the pillows are against the radiator. I woke up with a headache, feeling tired.

I feel ok now but I'm still trying to get over this cold.

Cough, cough, cough

...cough, cough, cough, cough, cough cough.

That's all I've (cough) been doing for the last (cough) three days.

Bad sleep and a tired blogger.

Office Christmas Party

Last night was the office Christmas Party. I was driving so I enjoyed watching my colleagues going through various stages of drunkeness while insisting that, "whatever I drink, I juzz can't sheem to get drunk."

I left at 1:20am and, inevitably, ended up taxiing a few people home before I drove the 40 minute journey home myself. I got to bed at 2:30am.

My alarm woke me up this morning at 6:30am and, having prepared myself for the difficulty of getting up after such a short sleep, was surprised by how easily I got out of bed.

I feel fine at the moment but I'm almost certain this will be short lived and will be considering a cup of coffee later to wake me up. Which is quite significant considering my dislike for it.

6.5 hours

I worked until late again last night. The problem with that I've found is that my mind is still alert when it comes to trying to go to sleep. I went to sleep just before midnight and got up just before 6:30am.

Wednesday, December 06, 2006

Late-ish

I went to sleep late-ish last night at around 11:15am. This, despite going for a rune last night.

This morning I struggled to wake up, eventually getting out of bed around 6:32am.

Radio

Last night I worked until nearly 10pm then went to bed and listened to the radio for a while. I didn't go to sleep until nearly 11:30pm.

I got up this morning with difficulty at 6:27am. I don't feel tired now but that may be due to my good rest at the weekend.

Late nights and a rest.

I went out on Friday night and stayed out as late as I could manage (which was a pathetic 1:00am) before I felt like I was going to fall asleep on the dance floor. I got up around 10am on Saturday and had a fairly slow day. I went for a short bike ride and moved some boxes into storage in preparation for moving house.

Saturday night I met some friends again. This time I got to bed at 12:19am. Again, I got up around 10am. Yesterday I did pretty much nothing. A lot of sitting around playing games.

Went to sleep around 10:40pm and got up easily at 6:20am. Feel really good today.

Late and cold

Last night I went to meet some friends. As with a few weeks ago I had a couple of glasses of coke (I was driving) that I think kept me awake for a bit when I finally got to bed at 11:30pm.

I was also cold last night and seemed to be listening to the radio for ages until I finally went to sleep around 12:30am.

I felt tired (almost hungover) when I got up this morning at 6:20am and although I don't feel too bad now, I'm sure I'll feel tired later on.

Cooking

I thought I was never going to get to sleep last night. I was boiling!

I was fortunate in that I'd made myself pretty tired by going on a particularly fast run earlier (perhaps this contributed to me over heating?). Going to sleep wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but I was worried I may set the bed on fire just by touching it!

Went to sleep aroun 10:45pm and woke up at 6:08am. I feel fine today.

Wednesday, November 29, 2006

Perfect

If every night was like last night it'd be great. Went to sleep around 10:30pm and woke up easily at 6:15am.

As I write this I don't feel tired at all.

Early night

Another early night last night.

It's amazing how the winter affects what you see as an acceptable time to go to bed. Last night I went to bed at just after 9pm. I'd never dream of doing that in the summer!

I think it was probably slightly too early as it took me a while to go to sleep. Having said that, I feel fine today. I got up at 6:25am without too much problem.

Good Weekend

Finally I've had a weekend that I don't have to spend the week recovering from!

On Friday night I went out to meet some friends. I was back home by 11:30pm. I was incredibly tired and must have gone to sleep within 5 minutes of getting into bed.

I got up at 8:30am ish. I went for a walk in Grassington in the afternoon and played a gig in Leeds at 7:00pm. It was good to play a gig and be able to leave so early - even after getting some post-gig food we were on our way back home by 9:00pm. I watched Match of the Day in bed and went to sleep shortly after seeing Reading beat Fulham 1-0.

I woke up at 9:30am. Sunday was a slow day (perhaps due to having had too much sleep?) but at least I wasn't rushing round to various parts of the country trying to do a million things. I went to bed early but for the first time for ages found it difficult to go to sleep. I must have finally gone to sleep around 11:30pm.

I got up today at 6:25am and feel fine now.

Completely awake

For the time in ages I don't feel tired at all. Normally at this time all I can think about is the fact that I really ought to go to bed earlier tonight. Today, though, I feel completely awake and full of energy.

I had dinner last night at 7pm and went to bed ridiculously early at around 9:30pm. After reading some local ghost stories (which, admittedly, probably isn't the best thing to do just before you turn your light out to go to sleep), I went to sleep fairly easily.

I had more dreams last night than I usually have - and I can remember them vividly. Come to think of it, I don't know how much I've been dreaming lately. I should start taking a note.

I woke up at 6:10am and after a bit of snoozing, got up at 6:24am.

Rested

Last night was fairly inactive for me as I was doing some work on the computer up until around 8pm. I went to bed at around 10pm, read for a bit then went straight to sleep.

I found it hard to get up this morning but I think that was more to do with the fact that I left the heating on all night than actually feeling tired. I ended up getting out of bed at 6:28am.

Getting back to normal

I went to bed last night at around 10:30pm. I went to sleep without a problem.

Unfortunately, getting out of bed this morning was harder than it's been for ages. I didn't open my eyes properly until I had been in the shower for five minutes.

I feel better now but am going to have an easy night tonight.

Not as late as I thought

Last night was the last of the late nights in my schedule for a while.

Although I played a gig in Leeds I managed to get to bed at 10:30pm. I was asleep by 11pm I think.

I got up this morning at 6:25pm.

I'm tired today. Not surprising after the busy few days that I've had. I hope to get an early night tonight.

An unsettled few days

I've been away for a few days.

Thursday and Friday I spent at my brother's new house. He hasn't any heating and despite the blow up matress I was on, the sleeping bag I was in, the duvet cover I was under and the blanket I was under, I was cold.

On Saturday night I went home and had a comfortable and quiet night's sleep. Unfortunately, it was slightly disturbed by my mind working overtime on the best ways to refit houses.

Last night I played a gig in Liverpool. Unfortunately, one of the main roads back home was closed and I finally made it to bed at 1:15am. I got up this morning at 8:12am feeling tired.

Tonight I have another gig in Leeds. I hope it will finish fairly early so that I can get to bed at a decent time.

Feeling good

Slept really well last night. I went for a run when I got hoe from work which always helps me with good sleep. Although I ate late (around 8:15pm) I managed to fall asleep around 10:15pm. Got up this morning at 6:20am and now feel great.

It's a good job I've got my batteries recharged as I've got a hectic 5 nights coming up which are going to be very trying for me.

Two Glasses of Coke

After feeling so lethargic all day yesterday (perhaps due to my night of inactivity on Monday) I decided to go for a run to kick start my energy. I felt so much better for getting some exercise. It's been around two weeks since I went for a proper run because I have been recovering from a marathon.

Feeling energised I went out to meet some friends. I was driving so I was drinking Coke.

When I went to bed (at around 11:15pm) I lay for ages feeling entirely awake. I finally went to sleep around midnight.

Despite my late night I got up at 6:23am feeling fairly refreshed. I feel much better than yesterday.

Tuesday, November 14, 2006

Too much?

I was tired when I got in from work last night and did absolutely nothing all night. I went to bed at 9:45pm and woke up at 6:15am.

After sleeping for 8.5 hours I feel more tired than I've felt for ages.

Disruptive weekend

This weekend took away any element of routine that my sleep patterns had shown over the last week. However, I've managed to wake up this morning feeling relatively fresh.

Friday night was a late night. I went to bed at 2am and expected to get up around 9am. I was shocked that when I woke up the time was actually 11:40am! I must have been more tired than I thought.

Saturday night was even later - finally got to bed at 3:40am! I did manage to get up around 9:30am, though, and got plenty done in the day (including playing football for an hour).

The exercise must have helped me go to sleep: I think I was asleep by 10:40pm - half an hour after going to bed. It was a fairly restless night but I feel fine this morning.

Short but refreshing.

I went out last night to watch a friend of mine play a gig.

It meant that I didn't get to bed until 11:30pm. Also, despite the fact that it was really a low key (and volume) event where the conversation took priority over the music, my ears rang slightly as I tried to go to sleep.

I got up at 6:23am and despite my shorter sleep I feel fairly refreshed and energised.

A good night's sleep.

Pretty normal night's sleep for me last night. I had dinner last night at 6:30pm.

I went to bed at 10pm after giving up on Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (it's amazing how many bullets one woman can dodge - especially with such large targets...) and went to sleep within half an hour.

Woke up at 6:15 and had no problem getting up. Feel fairly energetic this morning.

Don't wake me up at 5am!

Last night was uneventful for me. I had dinner at 7:30pm, went to bed at 10pm and went to sleep around 10:30pm.

I was woken up at 5am and looked at the clock at 5:05am. Unfortunately I misread it and thought it said 5:55am. I was in half a mind to stay awake until 6 (when my radio comes on) so lay in bed contemplating what seemed like the longest 5 minutes of my life.

Checked the clock again at 5:25am and slept until 6:15am (when my actual alarm comes on).

Got up fairly easily but still feel a little tired.

Oh YES!!

My neighbours must have seen this blog starting yesterday and been concerned that it would be boring.

After a late night on Sunday I was in bed by 9:30pm last night and went pretty much straight to sleep.

However, at some stage in the middle of the night I heard a noise like a pirate ship creaking in the wind. This was followed soon afterwards by what sounded like the women's final at Wimbledon. Yes, for the first time in two months living in my new place I heard the amorous efforts of my neighbours.

They went on for what seemed like hours. I always thought that the man next door looked like a bit of a lay-about. No wonder - he must be shattered!

I woke up at 6:15am when my alarm went off and struggled out of bed at 6:20am. I left the house at 7:05am, taking good care not to look into the window of Mr Loverman's (or should I call him Monsieur Amore?) apartment.

The Sleep Diary Begins!

I'm writing a diary about how well I sleep to help us to understand how to get the best night's sleep.

I hope my blog encourages other people to share their own experiences of how they've slept recently and what has affected them.

Feel free to share your advice on how to get a great night's sleep!

Sleep starts tonight - diary starts tomorrow!
