Completely awake

For the time in ages I don't feel tired at all. Normally at this time all I can think about is the fact that I really ought to go to bed earlier tonight. Today, though, I feel completely awake and full of energy.

I had dinner last night at 7pm and went to bed ridiculously early at around 9:30pm. After reading some local ghost stories (which, admittedly, probably isn't the best thing to do just before you turn your light out to go to sleep), I went to sleep fairly easily.

I had more dreams last night than I usually have - and I can remember them vividly. Come to think of it, I don't know how much I've been dreaming lately. I should start taking a note.

I woke up at 6:10am and after a bit of snoozing, got up at 6:24am.

Rested

Last night was fairly inactive for me as I was doing some work on the computer up until around 8pm. I went to bed at around 10pm, read for a bit then went straight to sleep.

I found it hard to get up this morning but I think that was more to do with the fact that I left the heating on all night than actually feeling tired. I ended up getting out of bed at 6:28am.

Getting back to normal

I went to bed last night at around 10:30pm. I went to sleep without a problem.

Unfortunately, getting out of bed this morning was harder than it's been for ages. I didn't open my eyes properly until I had been in the shower for five minutes.

I feel better now but am going to have an easy night tonight.

Not as late as I thought

Last night was the last of the late nights in my schedule for a while.

Although I played a gig in Leeds I managed to get to bed at 10:30pm. I was asleep by 11pm I think.

I got up this morning at 6:25pm.

I'm tired today. Not surprising after the busy few days that I've had. I hope to get an early night tonight.

An unsettled few days

I've been away for a few days.

Thursday and Friday I spent at my brother's new house. He hasn't any heating and despite the blow up matress I was on, the sleeping bag I was in, the duvet cover I was under and the blanket I was under, I was cold.

On Saturday night I went home and had a comfortable and quiet night's sleep. Unfortunately, it was slightly disturbed by my mind working overtime on the best ways to refit houses.

Last night I played a gig in Liverpool. Unfortunately, one of the main roads back home was closed and I finally made it to bed at 1:15am. I got up this morning at 8:12am feeling tired.

Tonight I have another gig in Leeds. I hope it will finish fairly early so that I can get to bed at a decent time.

Feeling good

Slept really well last night. I went for a run when I got hoe from work which always helps me with good sleep. Although I ate late (around 8:15pm) I managed to fall asleep around 10:15pm. Got up this morning at 6:20am and now feel great.

It's a good job I've got my batteries recharged as I've got a hectic 5 nights coming up which are going to be very trying for me.

Two Glasses of Coke

After feeling so lethargic all day yesterday (perhaps due to my night of inactivity on Monday) I decided to go for a run to kick start my energy. I felt so much better for getting some exercise. It's been around two weeks since I went for a proper run because I have been recovering from a marathon.

Feeling energised I went out to meet some friends. I was driving so I was drinking Coke.

When I went to bed (at around 11:15pm) I lay for ages feeling entirely awake. I finally went to sleep around midnight.

Despite my late night I got up at 6:23am feeling fairly refreshed. I feel much better than yesterday.

Too much?

I was tired when I got in from work last night and did absolutely nothing all night. I went to bed at 9:45pm and woke up at 6:15am.

After sleeping for 8.5 hours I feel more tired than I've felt for ages.

Disruptive weekend

This weekend took away any element of routine that my sleep patterns had shown over the last week. However, I've managed to wake up this morning feeling relatively fresh.

Friday night was a late night. I went to bed at 2am and expected to get up around 9am. I was shocked that when I woke up the time was actually 11:40am! I must have been more tired than I thought.

Saturday night was even later - finally got to bed at 3:40am! I did manage to get up around 9:30am, though, and got plenty done in the day (including playing football for an hour).

The exercise must have helped me go to sleep: I think I was asleep by 10:40pm - half an hour after going to bed. It was a fairly restless night but I feel fine this morning.

Short but refreshing.

I went out last night to watch a friend of mine play a gig.

It meant that I didn't get to bed until 11:30pm. Also, despite the fact that it was really a low key (and volume) event where the conversation took priority over the music, my ears rang slightly as I tried to go to sleep.

I got up at 6:23am and despite my shorter sleep I feel fairly refreshed and energised.

A good night's sleep.

Pretty normal night's sleep for me last night. I had dinner last night at 6:30pm.

I went to bed at 10pm after giving up on Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (it's amazing how many bullets one woman can dodge - especially with such large targets...) and went to sleep within half an hour.

Woke up at 6:15 and had no problem getting up. Feel fairly energetic this morning.

Don't wake me up at 5am!

Last night was uneventful for me. I had dinner at 7:30pm, went to bed at 10pm and went to sleep around 10:30pm.

I was woken up at 5am and looked at the clock at 5:05am. Unfortunately I misread it and thought it said 5:55am. I was in half a mind to stay awake until 6 (when my radio comes on) so lay in bed contemplating what seemed like the longest 5 minutes of my life.

Checked the clock again at 5:25am and slept until 6:15am (when my actual alarm comes on).

Got up fairly easily but still feel a little tired.

Oh YES!!

My neighbours must have seen this blog starting yesterday and been concerned that it would be boring.

After a late night on Sunday I was in bed by 9:30pm last night and went pretty much straight to sleep.

However, at some stage in the middle of the night I heard a noise like a pirate ship creaking in the wind. This was followed soon afterwards by what sounded like the women's final at Wimbledon. Yes, for the first time in two months living in my new place I heard the amorous efforts of my neighbours.

They went on for what seemed like hours. I always thought that the man next door looked like a bit of a lay-about. No wonder - he must be shattered!

I woke up at 6:15am when my alarm went off and struggled out of bed at 6:20am. I left the house at 7:05am, taking good care not to look into the window of Mr Loverman's (or should I call him Monsieur Amore?) apartment.

The Sleep Diary Begins!

I'm writing a diary about how well I sleep to help us to understand how to get the best night's sleep.

I hope my blog encourages other people to share their own experiences of how they've slept recently and what has affected them.

Feel free to share your advice on how to get a great night's sleep!

Sleep starts tonight - diary starts tomorrow!
